Pattonville High School seniors Jordan Bolton and Ethan Hughes qualified to compete at the National Speech and Debate Tournament after taking honors at a national qualifying tournament hosted at Pattonville High School by the Eastern Missouri District of the National Speech and Debate Association.
Bolton and Hughes took third place in the district in public forum debate. In addition, Bolton earned second in congressional debate. Both will compete at the national tournament in Birmingham, Alabama, in June.
The Easter Missouri District committee also honored Dr. Joe Dobrinic, Pattonville High School principal, with its District Principal of the Year Award. This award recognizes Dobrinic's enthusiastic support of speech and debate.
"As a new teacher and coach, I am personally grateful to Dr. Dobrinic for his support and guidance, and the district appreciates his ongoing contributions to the speech and debate community," said Jennifer Raymond, who coaches Pattonville's speech and debate team.
