|Pattonville school board members recognized for volunteer service|
|Wednesday, January 31, 2018|
Orchestra students from Holman Middle School attended the Jan. 23 board meeting to thank the school board for its volunteer work. They were on hand to recognize members of the Pattonville Board of Education as part of School Board Recognition Week in Missouri (Jan. 22 through 26).
Teacher Irena Goren-Scheer and eighth-graders in her orchestra program performed a musical selection from Vivaldi for the board. In addition, kindergarten students at each of the district's elementary schools and preschoolers at the Pattonville Learning Center created and signed thank-you cards for the board. Student groups from Holman and Pattonville Heights middle schools also sent thank-you cards.
The Pattonville Board of Education was named a 2017 Outstanding Board of Education for Human and Organizational Capital by the Missouri School Boards' Association (MSBA). The board previously won MSBA's Outstanding Board of Education Award for Teaching, Learning and Assessment in 2016; Governance, Leadership and Accountability in 2013; and the MSBA Outstanding Board of Education Award in 2002. The board was also a finalist for Outstanding Board of Education in 2008 and 2011.
Each year, the state of Missouri sets aside a week in January as School Board Recognition Week to recognize the volunteer work of more than 3,600 men and women who serve on school boards throughout the state. These public servants are elected by local constituents and do not receive compensation for their tireless efforts. Honored during the Pattonville recognition were: Jeanne Schottmueller, president; Andrea Glenn, vice president; Ralph Stahlhut, secretary; Mary Kay Campbell, treasurer; Ruth Petrov, director; Dr. Brian Gray, director; and Mindy Ridings, director.
