The Maryland Heights junior varsity Red Heat Legion Post 213 team finished its regular season by winning its division with an undefeated record in regular season play, a feat not accomplished in more than 19 years since former St. Louis Cardinals and Pattonville player Scott Cooper played for the Legion team. This summer's team is comprised of eight players from Pattonville High School, three from Hazelwood West High School and one from O'Fallon Christian Academy.
The team was named Team of the Week by KPLR Channel 11 on July 2. The team has been gaining recognition through baseball showcases at the University of Missouri and the Rawlings Gold Glove Games at Forest Park, where the team took second place in a tournament featuring elite select baseball teams from Missouri and Illinois. Team members from Pattonville High School are: Carter Hanford, Jon Lehmkuhl, Eddie Longmeyer, Kevin Patrick, Brendan Schaeffer, Joey Simpson, Daron Willford and Robert Zimerman.
