The Pattonville High School speech and debate team recently earned membership into the National Speech and Debate Association's (NSDA) prestigious 100 Club, an honor achieved by only the Top 20 percent of school speech and debate programs nationwide.

Speech and debate students across the nation earn points and degrees in NSDA's honor society based on competitive and serviceĀ-related activities, ranging from the Degree of Merit with 25 or more points to the Degree of Premier Distinction with 1,500 or more points. Pattonville's chapter achieved a total of 100 or more degrees last year, earning it membership in NSDA's 100 Club.

"This milestone is remarkable because it demonstrates outstanding commitment to teaching students essential life skillsĀ including communication, research, listening, writing and organization," said J. Scott Wunn, NSDA executive director, in a letter to Pattonville speech and debate coach Jennifer Raymond. "The hard work you have invested to achieve this distinction will pay dividends for years to come."
