High school French 2 students create recipe book

Bon appétit! Students in Ms. Margaret Hall’s French 2 classes created a recipe book as a Valentine’s Day gift to the staff at Pattonville High School to say “Merci” and to let them know they are very loved. The recipes include a personal story from every student detailing why they chose their item and instructions on how to make it written in both English and French. It also features a video of the student speaking in French showing how to prepare it.

“I wanted a project that allowed the students to use all the vocabulary that they've learned during our food unit both verbally and in writing,” Hall said.

She worked with district technology specialist Dr. Tammy Hasheider on the idea and all three of her French 2 classes contributed to the assignment.

“I wanted this to be one giant project that both in-person and virtual students worked on together,” she said. “There’s so much individual work going on in school right now, and this was something we could do on our own but also something we collaborated on and did as a whole.”
